This year, for the first time in many long years, there is Christmas in Horvath's private world.

For Morgana, however wary he still is of their informal teaching arrangement, there is a ring set with a garnet. The stone is not large, but it is of exceptional quality, and more importantly it serves as an anchor for a more powerful shield spell than he normally sets on rings, and also a contact spell to signal him should she ever be in dire enough danger to need that. The spells can be triggered separately or as one, and he spends time going over that with her.

For Balthazar, there is a hawk-headed torc, something he acquired a long time ago because it made him think of his old friend, but perhaps more important is the invitation to tea, and the trust that has him inviting the man across dimensions and into his own home.
