Truly though, do you loathe doctors, too? They're always telling me to lose weight and wanting to poke and prod at my leg.

I'm a researcher and a specialist in rare hematologic diseases in children.
I commute a lot between the hospital here in New York, and the Dana Farber Childrens Center at Boston Hospital, or John Hopkins in Baltimore. And in my off time I ask researchers for help with my Girl Scout troop projects, and take part in the Doctors without Borders program. So I also work with some up and coming companies who specialize in 3d printing of prosthetic limbs for children around the world.

And I promise not to poke or prod your body, or ask about your cane. Ever.

"3D printing of...?" Horvath gives a dismissive shake of his head, but it's clear what part of all that his mind latched onto. "You're a humanitarian I can only aspire to match, then. And you can tell me to lose weight, if you like. Not that it's likely to do any good." He smiles and shakes her hand, amused partly because of the absurdity of the gesture, since they've already met and shared coffee and books.
