He follows behind at his own pace, struggling with the cane and thumping rhythmically. It's embarrassing, to have to struggle with something so basic, and he gives her plenty of space to go ahead out of sheer pride.
When he does reach the top, Said lifts his head from the bowl to trot over and slurp on his hands. He ruffles the dog's ears distractedly, panting just slightly. "Look for his carpetbag. He usually takes it if he's going out on business..."
