Sitting down only to get up again quickly is simply not something he can do, but he lets her go, a brief flash of surprise melting into an understanding nod. After his encounter with Shub Niggurath, he was too rattled to anything sensible, and went looking for a drink once he could think of anything at all. It took Bel's guiding hand to send him off to clean up, and getting the stench of the eldritch thing off himself (at least as much as he could) was the best thing for him. What she went to fight this evening wasn't quite the same sort of creature, thank goodness, but the idea may still hold true.
"I'll still be here, when you've cleaned up." He nods, and gets up again more slowly. By the time she returns, he's settled against one arm of the couch, gazing contemplatively into the middle distance. He is, truth be told, a little tired. There are two glasses of red wine, watered down a little, on the nearby coffee table, and he looks up with a gentle smile when he notices her.
